Safety Gloves – Care and General info

Purpose of Safety Gloves: Safety gloves are designed to protect users from hand injuries such as cuts, abrasions, punctures, crushing, pinching, and skin damage. Different types of gloves provide protection against di erent hazards; therefore, using the right gloves for the right job ensures safety without compromising performance.

Follow the guidelines below to keep your gloves safe and effective:

  1. Proper Usage of Safety Gloves
    1. Wear gloves whenever there is a risk of hand injury (cuts, abrasions, punctures, crushing, chemicals, etc.).
    2. Always select gloves suitable for the specific task and risk level.
    3. Gloves should not be modified, cut, taped or used for purposes other than intended.

  1. Daily Inspection
    1. Check gloves for cuts, tears, holes, excessive wear,stiffness, or loss of grip.
    2. Ensure there are no signs of contamination or chemical damage. Replace gloves immediately if protection is
      compromised.

  1. Care & Cleaning (Knitted Gloves)
    1. Machine wash or hand wash on a gentle cycle using mild detergent.
    2. Use cold or warm water (maximum approximately 30°C).
    3. Do not use harsh detergents, bleach, or strong chemicals.
    4. Turn gloves inside out if heavily soiled before washing.

  1. Care & Cleaning (Leather Gloves
    1. Hand wash only.
    2. Use lukewarm water with mild soap or leather-safe
      detergent.
    3. Gently wipe the leather using sponge or cloth.
    4. Do not soak in water.
    5. Do not use bleach or solvents.

  1. Drying (Knitted Gloves)
    1. Air-dry naturally in a well-ventilated area.
    2. Lay flat or hang to dry naturally.
    3. Do not tumble dry.
    4. Keep away from radiators, engine surfaces, or direct sunlight.
    5. Ensure gloves are completely dry before reuse.

    1. Gently squeeze excess water.
    2. Air-dry in a well-ventilated area.
    3. Do not tumble dry.
    4. Do not dry on heaters. Radiators, engine surfaces, or in direct sunlight.
    5. Ensure the gloves are adequately dry before using.

  1. Storage
    1. Gloves shall be stored in a clean, dry, and designated PPE storage area.
    2. Keep gloves away from excessive heat, direct sunlight, oil, chemicals, sharp objects, and any sources of contamination.
    3. Gloves must not be left on the floor, on machinery, or in work areas after use. They shall be returned to the designated storage location immediately
      after use.
  1. Replacement & Responsibility
    1. Replace gloves immediately if they show signs of wear, damage, or reduced protective performance.
    2. Crew members are responsible the proper use, care, and maintenance of their assigned gloves to ensure continued safety and effectiveness.
